SwimBag
can help you provide a safer pool environment for your customers.
Lifesavers' National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) awarded by the Institute of Qualified Lifeguards (IQL), is the UK's leading Lifeguard Qualification. Our senior staff, Kate Copley, Becky Wood and Ady Longland, all NTAs have a long history in the training of the NPLQ. With courses run all over the UK, Germany, Cyprus and even the Falkland Islands we have proved that your location is not a problem.
Training for the NPLQ may only be provided in centres or by training organisations that have been approved under the IQL Approved Training Centre (ATC) scheme. As an organisation we are Approved Training Providers, and can, subject to a few requirements come to your pool and help your staff achieve the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification or the National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers & Coaches
The course is normally run over 6 days and candidates will learn pool rescue skills, first aid and basic life support skills. Running the course over a block period does preclude weak swimmers. Therefore candidates must be able to swim 50 metres in under 60 seconds and swim down to deepest part of the pool in which training is taking place. The certificate issued by the awarding body is valid for 2 years and is on the Qualifications Credits Framework at level 2 National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers & Coaches This is the ideal way to ensure your swimming teachers are aware of the hazards around the pool and are capable of acting appropriately if required to carry out a rescue. Some local authorities and LEA's insist that all teachers have this award. The course can be delivered and assessed over 2 days at your pool.
Both Ady and Kate are licensed trainers and can train NPLQ Unit 2 Trainer Assessors. SwimBag runs courses every year in Germany, Cyprus, Peterborough and Yorkshire and given demand would be happy to discuss bringing a course to your venue.
If you'd like to explore the opportunities to become an NPLQ Trainer Assessor, feel free to call us for an informal chat. Who knows it may be the start of a whole new dimension to your career.
SwimBag's growing team of Trainer Assessors are able deliver training, provide advice or even coordinate your whole NPLQ training programme. Examples include managing the whole lifeguard programme for the University of Birmingham and Oper 8 in Rochdale, external verifying the ATC for Oundle School and the provision of assessors for Fenland District Council's pools.
