The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health is the UK leading provider of Health & Safety qualifications. We are proud to be a registered training centre and can offer the following courses.

CIEH Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace
CIEH Principles of Manual Handling
CIEH Principles of COSHH

 

CIEH Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace

This qualification is designed to ensure that all employees are aware of their own safety and the safety of customers, contractors and the public. It is applicable inany private or public sector environment.

Subjects covered:Health and Safety First Principles book, issued to all candidates

Health & safety legislation
Health - work-related illnesses
Safety - accident prevention
Hazards in the workplace
Risk assessments
Manual handling
Hazardous substances
Ergonomics and workstation design
Welfare - facilities, smoking, stress & first aid
Working at heights, transport and vehicles, noise and vibration

The course is normally delivered over 6 -7 hours followed by short multiple choice examination. During the course we utilise PowerPoint presentations, discussions and group activities. Courses are lead by experienced trainers who will endeavour to make the training relevant to your particular workplace. All candidates receive a copy of 'Health & Safety First Principles' and following the course we would expect candidates to make an increased contribution to safety in your organisation.

CIEH Principles of Manual Handling

CIEH Principles of Manual Handling

This a level 1 qualification which can stand alone or complement the Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace. It is aimed at those who carry out manual handling activities at work and introduces students to the hazards of manual handling, the risks involved, control measures available and what to expect from a manual handling assessment.

Subjects covered:

The process of manual handling in the workplace
Manual handling injuries and the activities which cause them
Manual handling assessments and control options
The Manual Handling Operations Regulations and the responsibilities they impose

Successful completion will prepare students to look carefully at their own work activities and contribute to the development of safer methods in association with their managers. This short course does not provide detailed training on particular handling techniques and is not intended to equip students to carry out manual handling assessments.

The course is normally delivered over 3 hours followed by short multiple choice test. During the course we utilise PowerPoint presentations, video, discussions and group activities. Our experienced trainers will endeavour to make the training as relevant to your handling operations as possible.

CIEH Principles of COSHH

This a level 1 qualification which can stand alone or complement the Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace. It is aimed at those who use substance hazardous to health at work and introduces students to the hazards associated with substances, the risks involved, control measures available and what to expect from a COSSH assessment.

Subjects covered:

Definition and types of substances hazardous to health in the workplace
Health effects of hazardous substances and their causes
COSHH assessments and control options
The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 and imposed responsibilities

Successful completion will prepare students to look carefully at their own work activities and contribute to the development of safer working methods in association with their managers. This short course does not provide detailed training on particular substances and is not intended to equip students to carry out COSSH assessments.

The course is normally delivered over 3 hours followed by short multiple choice test. Training utilises PowerPoint presentations, discussions and group activities. Our experienced trainers will endeavour to make the training as relevant to your substances as possible.
